Smiling is the easiest way to boost up the mood, be healthier, feel better, boost up the longevity. The act of smiling increases neural messaging that benefits the body.

Smiling laughing and positive thinking have shown to have a huge number of health benefits to the mind.

A genuine smile can make you look more attractive, pleasant, intelligent, and trustworthy and even help you live longer and remain free from stress. More then merely an automatic expression of friendliness, politeness or a good mood, smiling also influences our brain chemistry, triggering feelings of happiness and pleasure.

Neurotransmitters called endorphins and Serotonin are released when you smile. Endorphins make us feel happier and less stressed. While the release of endorphins is increased, the stress hormone cortisol is reduced. These endorphins interact with the receptors of brain and reduce the perception of pain. They act as the body’s natural painkiller – effective in pain management. Serotonin release initiated by smiling serves as an anti depressant or a mood elevator.

Smiling can help body relax and help heart work without any pressure or tension. It is even scientifically proven that people who smile a lot are at a very low risk of developing heart diseases in future. A study suggests that having a smile during hard times can be very beneficial for the heart.

Stress has become one of the most common problem of the modern world. Though it may not be easy to smile during stressful condition yet it is believed smiling helps us to reduce stress and calm ourselves down.

In an experiment conducted in 2012 by Tara Kraft and Sarah Pressman (Scientists at UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS) – 170 participants were told to hold the chopstick in their mouth in their mouth in three formations and then making them smile to various degree without making them realise, after performing this stressful task. This experiment revealed that those who smiled the biggest experienced a quicker recovery from stress and a great reduction in heart rate to normal quickly.
